I watched ATLA finale again to catch the Lion Turtle’s spiel about energy bending

This pic is part of a ritual with a mask to emulate the Amon the Spirit in the presence of mortals. Then through the mask’s connections, Amon presents the knowledge of energy bending with glowy effects.

This dude right here is actually one part of a 5 man team with this dude as center piece.

The entire ensemble has symbolic meaning. 

The cape is to create the illusion of a massive being and it’s dark because dark colors = mysteriousness ooooooooh. There’s a bunch of jars with elemental stuff: air=incense, water, rocks, candles. And they’re positioned in a way that resembles their element but it’s not in order because before avatar time and I also could not fit the positions in the proper way.

There’s body paint and the arm and finger armor is made of a type of shell that has this particular sheen. Like a seashell or a rock. There’s beads and string and twine because river civilization origins.

The ritual would have the 5 man team move as one and the receive papers made of reeds or leaflets of people’s names of who would be blessed with energy bending. Or it’s the council’s papers who are in favor of the person or persons to be blessed with energy bending.

Because if the people choose who to represent them on a whole consensus, then there wouldn’t be persecution for having energy powers. Equality system thing.
